Honky-Tonk-Monster Art Print - Phantom Of The Grand Ole' Opry
This portrait of the Phantom Of The Opry is one of a series of four paintings by artist Dirk Hays depicting monsters in country western attire. After moving to Nashville in the 90's, the Phantom transitioned from opera to country music and rebranded himself Phantom of The Opry. If you visit Music City, you can still see him preforming every Tuesday night at The Bluebird Cafe.
This ready-to-frame print is a reproduction of an original acrylic painting on wood panel by Dirk Hays. The 11"x17" image is printed on a sheet of 12"x18" 80lb card stock and shipped in a protective plastic sleeve with cardboard backing.
Dirk Hays is an Atlanta-based artist. Dirk graduated from Auburn University in 1982 with a BFA degree in Visual Communications and moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in advertising. Soon thereafter the punk rock and local art scene lured him away from his corporate job. Ever since, Dirk has focused his energies on a range of creative pursuits.
Dirk’s work is deeply rooted in the pop culture iconography of the last half century. Themes prevalent in Dirk's work include references from Famous Monsters of Filmland, Mad Magazine, cartoons, vintage television shows, movies, music, and comic books.
